邏輯裝置（Logical Device）
變電站中的每個裝置都是邏輯裝置。下圖中的邏輯裝置是 Bay 控制器、繼電器和儀表。為變電站配置 IEC 61850 時，每個邏輯裝置都應具有唯一的名稱。
邏輯節點（Logical Node）
每個邏輯裝置將支援各種功能。每個功能可歸類為邏輯節點。以下示例是兩個邏輯裝置的邏輯節點細分。

資料屬性（Data Attribute）
IEC 61850 通用資料類
許多邏輯節點都擁有具有相同資料屬性的資料物件。
例如，離散輸入變數都具有以下資料屬性
- 值
- 質量
- 時間戳
- 描述
IEC 61850 定義了標準的資料屬性組，稱為通用資料類 (CDC)。
邏輯節點的每個資料物件都屬於一個 CDC。
