The Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional festival deprived from China, often celebrates on May 5 and have o long history. Before the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, people held Dragon Boat Festival to eliminate illness and misfortune. Later, the patriotic poet Qu Yuan chose to drowned himself in the river to express his loyalty and devotion. And the essence of the Dragon Boat Festival has evolved into a festival to commemorate Qu Yuan and cherish the noble spirit of the Chinese nation. It is symbolized the the national spirit of the Chinese people. The Dragon Boat Festival is not only a remembrance to Qu Yuan, but also a tribute to courage and the spirit of sacrifice.

On this day, every household will wrap rice dumpling, a food made of glutinous rice and various fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The shape and taste of rice dumpling vary, but they all carry respect for history and the inheritance of tradition. In my community, we have many ways to display it. But the most prevalent ways to launch it are campaign for Dragon boat races and making rice dumpling with family.

Dragon boat races are another highlight of the Dragon Boat Festival. Painted dragon boats race on the river, with thunderous drumming and people cheering in unison for the participants. This is not just a sports
competition, but also a manifestation of teamwork and collective honor.

The Dragon Boat Festival is also a time for family reunions. No matter where people are, they will try to return home to spend the festival with their loved ones. Families sit together, share rice dumpling, and tell the story of Qu Yuan, inheriting the culture and spirit of the Chinese nation.

But a interesting phenomenon is that due to different flavor, the ingredients used to make rice dumpling vary from region to region, so there are many differences in shape and taste. Most are made with plain white glutinous rice. The northern varieties are usually sweet, with ingredients such as sugar, red bean paste and jujubes. But on the other hand, southern rice dumpling are filled with soy sauce, pork, water chestnuts and salted duck egg yolk.

In my home, the memory of making rice dumpling is far away. In my memory, when I was 6 years old, my grandmother would give me jujube dumplings, sweet and delicious, big and sweet. But then I went to Shanghai with my parents, tasted the southern meat dumplings, and liked it. As for now, my family doesn't make rice dumpling anymore. The adults in my family are always busy with work and other things. My family usually buys semi-finished rice dumpling from the supermarket and cooks them.

The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival can be traced back to the Warring States Period, with a history of more than 2,000 years. Qu Yuan, the great patriotic poet, with his unswerving patriotism and excellent literary talent, has become the core figure of the Dragon Boat Festival. Every Dragon Boat Festival, people will commemorate him through various ways to express their respect for his noble spirit.
With the passage of time, the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival has also evolved. In ancient times, people made rice dumpling, Dragon Boat Racing and hung Mugwort to pray for Ping An and health. In modern society, in addition to the traditional customs, the Dragon Boat Festival also incorporates many new elements. Modern people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by traveling and getting together, which gives new vitality to the traditional festival. Although the way of celebration is changing, the core value of the Dragon Boat Festival has never changed, that is, the respect and inheritance of family and country feelings and the value of life. This cultural heritage spanning thousands of years not only makes us feel the weight of history, but also makes us cherish the happy life in front of us.

This year's Dragon Boat Festival, because I am studying in Nanchang, far away from my hometown Shandong, it is impossible to go home to visit my family, so I am going to travel. My roommate and I prepared a trip to JiuJiang, Jiangxi. JiuJiang is a beautiful and quiet city. It is also an important city in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. It has a long history and culture. I hope I can learn more about modern Chinese history in this trip. The above is all about me. Maybe you can look forward to my Dragon Boat Festival vlog to learn more.
