Summer Work Placement

I am writing to enquire about the possibility of a placement on the Sports Desk of your newspaper during the summer period. I hear from my colleagues that you sometimes take on students for work experice during the summer vacation. My friend and colleague Jack White worked for you last summer.
I come from Liverpool, but I am currently studying Sports Journailsm at Lancaster University. I am finishing my second year of studies and I would be interested in working for the Liverpool Echo during July and August. My main specialisation is racquet sports, but I am happy to work across a full range of sports. I know Liverpool and its local sporting scene very well. as I grew up there until I went to university.
Apart from sports, I particularly enjoy film and photography. I am able to support my journalistic writing with appropriate photographs when require.
I am encloseing some examples of my writing from my course work, including a feature article on 'Woman in Snooker', which won the end-of-term prize last term. I am currently working on an article about Bill Shankley's influence on Livepool football, which I am hoping to publish in a Liverpool newspaper. I am currently looking for a newspaper to publish it.
I am staying in Lancaster until the end of this month. My parents sill live in Liverpool, so i visit there regulary and stay there during the vacations. Therefore, I am available for an interview at any time.
