本人比較喜歡Courier New這個字型,但預設下FC5是不安裝這個字型的，需要手工安裝。

具體步驟如下：
1、下載字型
可以直接從windows複製一個字型，比如Courier New對應的字型檔案是c:WINDOWSfontscour.ttf。
把它複製到FC5上。

2、安裝
2.1 建立目錄
[root@suk ~]# mkdir -p /usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom
然後把cour.ttf複製到剛建立的目錄上
[root@suk ~]# cp /tmp/cour.ttf /usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom
2.2 設定許可權
[root@suk ~]# chmod -R 755 /usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom
2.3 生成fonts.scale檔案
[root@suk ~]# cd /usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom/
[root@suk custom]# ttmkfdir -e /usr/share/X11/fonts/encodings/encodings.dir
[root@suk custom]# ls
cour.ttf fonts.scale
可以看到，執行完命令後，custom目錄上多了fonts.scale檔案。

2.4 修改相關檔案
首先修改/etc/fonts/fonts.conf檔案
[root@suk custom]# vi /etc/fonts/fonts.conf
在<!-- Font directory list --&gt一行下加上上一步生成的檔案的路徑，如修改後我的機器上是：

/usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom
/usr/share/fonts
/usr/share/X11/fonts/Type1 /usr/share/X11/fonts/OTF
~/.fonts
然後修改/etc/X11/xorg.conf檔案，同樣加上上一步的路徑。修改後我的配置如下：
[root@suk custom]# vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# used to render fonts.
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/chinese/custom"
FontPath "unix/:7100"
2.5 登出重新登入
此時就可以選擇新安裝的字型了。比如在終端中依次選擇：
編輯->當前配置檔案->常規->字型
在彈出的對話方塊中選擇新字型。
