A simpleminded dog, a fascinating cat——My life when I was a student

What reminds you when a dog is referred to you? A dog is the symbol of loyalty as well as compliance to its master. A dog is so devoted to its master as if that it has no its own thoughts or independence, just like a simpleminded creature. How about cat? What would you think of when a cat is mentioned to you? A cat never becomes submissive as a dog. Most cats lead mysterious lives. Sometimes they’re affectionate and friendly. However, they never cease to be fascinating.

Who is the simpleminded dog? And who is the fascinating cat? Paul was the dog and Paul’s teachers were the the captivating cats.

When Paul was a student, he was so timid and compliant that he would never whisper at class, refuse to do homework, or play tricks. He was also like a little dog of the teachers. Whatever the teacher said, Paul would try to fulfill with all his might. When the teacher asked Paul to coach another student, Paul would say “yes, teacher.” When the teacher asked Paul to participate an academic contest, Paul would say “yes, teacher, I’d try my best to prepare.” When the teacher asked Paul to be the cheerleader at the sports meeting, Paul would say “yes, teacher.” When the teacher disapproved Paul, Paul would be so sad and wondered what he did wrong to make the teacher unhappy and what he could do better. How much Paul was like a little dog.

The teachers fascinated Paul with their knowledge and wisdom. But just like a cat, they led a mysterious life. A simpleminded dog never fully got what they were thinking of or whether the cat really liked him or not. A student was judged largely by his or her academic performances in China. But when the simpleminded dog got the first place, the cats just squinted their eyes and gave an insipid praise. The simpleminded dog could just not understand why the cat praised him, but he could not feel the love. Nevertheless, the little dog was fascinated by the cat’s knowledge and descriptions about the world.

This is Paul’s story when he was a student.
