For further details see .

2. Will customers be forced to move off of the Itanium hardware?
No! The Oracle Database on Linux Itanium is supported under Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy. This means you will be able to receive Oracle's support as long as you have paid for support.

Over time, per Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy, products move from Premium to Extended to Sustaining Support. However, for Linux Itanium, Oracle is making an exception to its Extended Support policy by waiving the fee for Extended Support through July 2013 and will provide additional Limited Extended Support through July 2015. Extended Support service fees will apply during this additional period.

3. Will fixes, security alerts, Critical Patch Updates, and Patch Set Updates continue to be available for all supported releases?

5. Will Oracle Database be upgraded and certified with new distributions and versions of Linux Itanium?
No. Red Hat RHEL 5 and SUSE SLES 11 will be the last supported distributions of Linux on Itanium.

Red Hat announces that it is committed to protecting Itanium customers’ investments, that all Itanium related development will be incorporated into Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 exclusively, and that the next major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (version 6) will not support Itanium. Contact Red Hat for more details.

For HP's future direction on Integrity servers running Linux on Itanium, please refer to on HP's web site. Contact HP for more details.

7. What level of support will customers get through this period on Linux Itanium, and how quickly will patches, bug fixes, and Service Requests be handled?
Customers will receive the same level of support that they had previously. There is no change in the delivery time for any services. Bug fixes and Service Requests are prioritized by severity level, not by platform.
