Applications patches are organized by aggregation level.

Individual Bug Fix: A patch that fixes an existing issue. Individual bug fixes are released only when there is an immediate need for a fix or enhancement that cannot wait until a release update pack (RUP) is available. Although individual bug fixes are intended to be as small as possible, they usually include any dependent files that have changed since the base release in order to form a complete patch that can be applied by any customer. The actual number of files changed will depend on the current code level on the system to which the patch is being applied.

Product Family Release Update Pack (Product Family RUP): An aggregation of patches on a given codeline created for all products in a specific product family for a specific point release.

Release Update Pack (RUP): An aggregation of product family RUPs on a given codeline created across Oracle E-Business Suite after the initial release. RUPs are cumulative and include all one-off bug fixes previously released to customers as well as legislative updates and less critical fixes. New functionality is also allowed in RUPs with executive approval.

Pre-upgrade patch: All upgrade-related, high priority patches consolidated from all the products within a product family. Pre-upgrade patches are released as needed. The Oracle Applications Release Notes lists the most recent pre-upgrade patches.

Consolidated Upgrade Patch: All upgrade-related patches consolidated from all the products within a product family. These patches are released as needed and are only available for upgrading a Release 12 system from one point release to another. Release 11.5.10.
