SolutionThe solution was: The install locations are different on this server, so there was no /var/log/tsm directory as found on another server installation. Did a comparison of the permissions of every file in this installation to an existing server with a working install. It turns out that the tdpoerror.log file under /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin was only writable by root. Once the permissions were changed to make it world writable, the backups started running successfully.
