Purpose

Installation of Grid Control 10.2.0.5.0 on Enterprise Linux 5 using the software only technique may fail, even though the published package prerequisites have been verified and the installer prerequisite checks have passed without error. Additional packages may be required on top of the "default" type OS installation. Note that certain 32bit packages need to be installed on the x86_64 platforms on order to facilitate installation of the Grid Control components.

Common failure points are NetCA and Web Cache CA.

OEL (RHEL) 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 have been validated with the indicated package additions

SuSE10 has been validated with the indicated package additions.

Scope

These prerequisite recommendations are limited to Grid Control installation on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 for x86 and x86_64 platforms and for SuSE10 for the x86_64 platform.

Details

The following operating system package lists are derived from the Grid Control documentation available at OTN and Note.564174.1 Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Requirements for Linux : OEL 5 and RHEL 5, available on the My Oracle Support web site. Additional packages are listed which have been found to be necessary to support those designated in the publications and will allow for successful installation on a "default" installation of OEL5 or RHEL5:
