Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

In an effort to minimize some common upgrade pitfalls, EM Development and Support are providing the following information to supplement Release Notes and aid in the migration / upgrade process of an Enterprise Manager Grid Control environment from versions 10.2.0.1, 10.2.0.2, 10.2.0.3 or 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5.

This note is a living document and a supplement to the Enterprise Manager Installation and Upgrade Documentation and platform specific Release Notes.

Scope and Application

This document will help Enterprise Manager Grid Control customers avoid common problems when upgrading existing environments to 10gR5 (10.2.0.5).

Upgrade Grid Control 10.2.0.x to 10.2.0.5 - Important Steps Required

Prior to migrating an Enterprise Manager 10.2 environment to 10gR5 (10.2.0.5), you should review the pre- and post- upgrade steps listed in the platform specific Release Notes as well as the Critical patches listed below. Failure to apply patches and upgrade steps could result in slower performance or a failed upgrade.

NOTE: Previous versions of this document listed individual OMS patches that have now been obsoleted.
Oracle recently released PSU (Patch Set Update) #5 for Grid Control OMS. This PSU has been extensively tested and is highly recommended for customers running 10.2.0.5.

It is highly recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of Opatch before installing the PSU patches.

23-OCT-2009	Broke the post upgrade patches out into 2 tables. One that shows patches for customer who are on the CPU patching path and another table for customers who want to move to the PSU patching path. The PSU includes the OMS Patch Bundle as well as Bug:8219750 & Bug:8487423 - so removed those from the PSU patching path table.
29-OCT-2009	Add the follow patches to both CPU and PSU track tables: 8904195, 8799602, and 8976312. Replaced 8799602 with 9015767.
17-NOV-2009	Added the patch 9099569 at the end of the PSU Path Table: Removed the note in the CPU Path Table. Updated the first note of the article.
01-DEC-2009	Removed the CPU Section as there is no CPU Patch for the Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10.2.0.5. Added patches 8518005 and 9132461. Replaced 8904195 and 9015767 on 10.2.0.5.0 with 9099569 and 9118481 on 10.2.0.5.1
