Symptoms

During Grid Infrastructure installation on HP-UX Itanium or IBM AIX platform, at the step of "SSH Connectivity", pressed "SETUP", error dialog is displayed:

[INS-06001] Failed to perform operation due to internal driver error.

InstallAction.log shows on HP IA:

Validating remote binaries .. Existence check failed for /usr/local/bin/bash on node: node1.

On IBM AIX:

[INS-06001] Failed to perform operation due to internal driver error. 
 
Cause  - No additional information available.
Action - Refer to the logs or contact Oracle Support Services

Cause

This is caused by OUI trying to use /usr/local/bin/bash (on HP IA) and /bin/bash (on AIX) even though it is not installed by default on HP IA or IBM AIX.

Solution

The workaround is to install bash.

For HP IA,
Download HP IA version bash from http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Shells/bash-4.2/
and its dependency termcap from http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Development/Libraries/termcap-1.3.1/

After install bash, INS-6001 error should not be reported. Installation will go through.
