Why is gam_server using up 100% of my CPU on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4

Problem:  gam_server process uses 100% of CPU

 

Release Found: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 with gamin-0.1.7-1.2.EL4 installed.

Resolution: This was a known issue in the gamin packages that shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.5.   

There were some instances where the gam_server could get stuck in a tight loop and

consume 100% of the cpu.:
