Exam Environment

  • Oracle Linux Release 6.5 64 bit

  • Mozilla Browser, Text (emacs, gedit) and vi editors

  • Shell environment: bash, csh

  • Use either CLI or GUI environment and tools when available

  • Oracle Database 12 c  Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0  64 bit

  • Oracle Grid Infrastructure 12 Release 1 (12.1.0.2)

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12 c  Rel 4

Notes about t he exam

 

Exam participants work through eight skillsets that are based on the exam objectives.

Tasks can be performed using CLI or GUI environment and tools when available





General Database and Network Administration 

  • Create and manage pluggable databases.

  • Create and manage users, roles, and privileges.

  • Configure the network environment to allow connections to multiple databases.

  • Create and manage database configuration files.

  • Configure shared server

  • Manage network file directories


Managing Database Availability 

  • Install the EM Cloud Control agent

  • Configure recovery catalog.

  • Configure RMAN.

  • Perform a full database backup.

  • Configure and monitor Flashback Database.


Data Warehouse Management 

  • Create a database link.

  • Create a fast refreshable materialized view.

  • Create a plug-in tablespace by using the transportable tablespace feature.

  • Optimize star queries.

  • Configure parallel execution.

  • Apply a Patch

  • Configure Automatic Data Optimization, In-Row Archiving, and Temporal Validity

  • Manage external tables


Data Management 

  • Manage additional buffer cache.

  • Optimize space usage for the LOB data.

  • Manage an encrypted tablespace.

  • Manage schema data.

  • Manage partitioned tables.

  • Set up Fine-Grained Auditing.

  • Configure the database to retrieve all previous versions of the table rows.


Performance Management 

  • Configure the Resource Manager.

  • Tune SQL statements.

  • Use real application testing

  • Manage SQL Plan baselines.

  • Capture performance statistics.

  • Tune an instance

  • Configure and manage result cache

  • Manage extended statistics

  • Create and manage partitioned indexes

  • Control CPU use for Oracle Instances

  • Configure and manage "In Memory" features


Data Guard

  • Administer a Data Guard environment

  • Create a physical standby database

  • Configure a standby database for testing

  • Configure a standby database to apply redo

  • Configure a standby database to use for reporting

  • Configure fast start failover

  • Manage DDL in a Data Guard environment



Real Application Cluster Database

  • Install Oracle Database software

  • Create a Real Application Clusters (RAC) database

  • Configure Database Services

  • Administer Oracle RAC databases on one or more cluster nodes




ADVICE FROM SENIOR OU INSTRUCTORS:

  • Obtain a minimum of 3 - 4 years of Oracle experience. Five or more years experience would be more typical of the qualified candidate.

  • Make sure you have all the skills described under Recommeded Minimum Skills and Experience.

  • Be prepared to use the non-searchable documentation during the exam, to help you with correct syntax.

  • Review command line solutions and be prepared to use them, even if you know how to do things in GUI. GUI is not available for every segment of the exam.

  • Take the time to get hands-on practice with all the exam objectives, especially on skills that you do not use regularly.

  • You must be able to translate high-level conceptual requirements into the specific commands and actions that are needed to execute them. This is where your years of experience and hands-on practice are especially vital to success on the exam.

 

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years of professional enterprise-level Oracle experience

  • Experience with backup, restore and recovery operations

  • Proficient with SQL

  • Working knowledge of LINUX command language that includes:

    • Executing basic OS commands

    • Creating and navigating through directory structures

    • File management using copy, move, and delete

    • Linux environment text editors

    • Setting environment variables

  • The ability to locate and/or  use Oracle executables that include but not limited to:

    • RMAN utility

    • Oracle Net Manager

    • Oracle Net Configuration Assistant

    • Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Express

    • Listener Utility

    • OMS

    • Oracle Password Utility

    • Database Creation Assistant (DBCA)

    • DGMGRL

  • Proficient with OEM Cloud Control

  • Familiarity navigating through online Oracle documentation

  • Proficient with using Mozilla browser software
